Once again there has been a victim in Capel-le-Ferne with someone pretending to be calling from Microsoft and offering to 'speed-up / fix' their computer.

Unfortunately, the owner followed the instructions and downloaded a piece of software that told them that their computer was infected. They paid to uninfect the machine. Of course this never happened and they were left with a computer they could not use. Further sums of money were then deducted from their credit card another day.

In fraud cases like these please note that most banks will refund the money to you quickly provided you inform them asap. Always make sure that you cancel the card as well.
